Mara - Mara Safari Club
The luxurious Mara Safari Club is set in the Ol-Choro Oiroua Conservation
Area, bordering the Masai Mara Game Reserve, at the foot of the Aitong Hills.
Surrounded on three sides by the Mara River, all tents have their own private
river frontage, with four-poster beds, verandah, electricity, modern en-suite
facilities with hot and cold running water. The
main building, with lounge, bar and dining room is cantilevered over the river.
Game drives, guided by our experienced "driver-naturalists", are by
four-wheel-drive Land Cruiser. At the club, the pool, al fresco buffet lunches
and nightly activities of Masai dancing, slide shows and talks on the Mara's ecosystem
and Masai culture, all add up to create a truly unique experience. The
Mara Safari Club is a four-hour drive from Nairobi, or a forty-five minute flight
from Wilson Airport (Nairobi) with a ten-minute drive from Ngerende Airstrip. Day
01: Nairobi - Masai Mara Pick from your Hotel or JKIA and transferred
to Wilson Airport for the scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. The Masai Mara is
the jewel of Kenya's game parks, located in the northern section of the great
Serengeti plains. The reserve is the home of the "Big Five" … elephant,
lion, leopard, buffallo, rhino as well as cheetah, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest,
hippo, impala, gazalle and numerous other including hundreds of species of birds.
On
arrival you will be met and transferred to Mara Safari Club for your lunch the
base foryour adventure. The camp is positioned on an ox-bow of the Mara River,
so that all en-suite tents have a view of the hippo-filled river. The lodge is
surrounded by well-cultivated gardens dotted among indigenous trees. There are
a total of 50 tents, of which 42 are twin-bedded and 8 double-bedded. 10 of these
double bedded-tents are Premium tents and have sunken baths in the bathrooms.
There is also a platform between these tents and the standard tents, allowing
for superb game-viewing and private dining. These tents have been superbly furnished
to the highest possible standards with netted four-poster beds and permanent bathrooms.
All tents have water flasks with glasses, insecticide and air-freshener, 220v
electrical sockets, "lamps" (electrical), dressing table and hand-woven
rugs and poster-bed drapes. All bathrooms have a shower stall or bath, flush toilets
in bathroom, washbasin, Lonrho shampoo, hand and body lotion, shower and bath
gel, and freshly laundered towels, solar-heated hot- and cold running water, windows
with mosquito gauze and flaps, a flashlight and an umbrella. All tents have square-pin
electric sockets for easy charging of video cameras, cameras and other electric
gadgets. Adapters are available from Reception. The low afternoon light is
perfect for photographing the beautiful rolling plains of the Masai Mara. In the
early evening as you make your way back to the lodge, you may get lucky and spot
a leopard on the prowl. As the sun starts to set you will return to your camp
for dinner and overnight Mara Safari Club (LD)
Day
02: Masai Mara On morning game drives you will awake before dawn
and set out at sunrise in search of game. In between your morning and afternoon
game drive you will have ample time to relax and enjoy the ambiance at your camp.

03: Masai Mara - Nairobi Arise at dawn for an early morning game
drive or perhaps end your safari with a spectacular hot-air balloon ride over
the Mara. After breakfast you have the a final game drive as you make your way
to the Airstrip for the scheduled flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival, you will be
met and transferred to your Hotel or JKIA Airport (B).
